Born to a military family in North Carolina, Sharon began her dancing career at age 6. While traveling the world with her family she was exposed to all types of music and all styles of dance. Filled with tons of energy, Sharon was bouncing off the walls until her mother finally enrolled her in a dance class. Sharon participated in ballet, jazz, tap, and African movement classes in whatever country, state, or territory she was living in, as her family traveled the world. At age of 14, Sharon enrolled in Expressions Dance Company. There, she performed, taught, and choreographed for four years. After graduating from Hampton University, Sharon moved to Cleveland to study Forensic Psychology at Cleveland State University. While in school, Sharon became a student of the Fred Astaire Ballroom Dance School. While learning at Fred Astaire, Sharon competed in several competitions, and won the Top Newcomer Female in 2007. Soon after, Sharon found her "dancing home" at Viva dance! She has been there ever since! Although Sharon loves and teaches all forms of ballroom dance, Latin is by far her style of choice, with salsa being her favorite. If you don't see Sharon on the dance floor at Viva dance! you can definitely catch her at The View Dance Club on Fridays cutting a rug where she is a resident instructor. Please stop by Viva dance! ...Sharon's warm personality, great moves and infectious smile will motivate you to groove along!
